Truman Scholarship

Description
The Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation awards merit-based scholarships to college students who plan to pursue careers in government or elsewhere in public service. Truman Scholars receive up to $30,000 for graduate or professional school, participate in leadership development activities, and have special opportunities for internships and employment with the federal government.

Eligibility Requirements

  • U.S. citizen or U.S. national
  • Current junior (based on date of graduation, not credit hours accumulated)
  • Planning to pursue an advanced degree: Master’s degree, doctorate, or professional degree such as a law degree or a Master of Public Administration, Master of Public Health, Master of Social Work, Master of Education, Master of Public Policy, or Master of International Affairs
  • Will pursue a career in which you will serve as a “change agent,” for example, improving the ways that government agencies, nonprofit organizations, or educational institutions serve the public

Nominations are made by the college or university. Students should contact their campus liaison for information.
